About me

HR is fundamentally about people and relationships, so here’s a little about me…

​

I live in Southampton with my husband and after many years in senior HR roles, I made a deliberate step change in 2025, leaving permanent corporate life to set up my own HR consultancy. It was partly a new challenge I hadn’t explored in my HR career, and partly a way to achieve a greater work life balance. 

​

My career has been wonderfully varied. I started in retail, progressing from Saturday jobs in shoe shops to a management trainee programme with British Gas back when they had high street showrooms. I then spent a few years managing pubs before starting my family, later returning to retail management across the High Street and supermarket sectors.

My HR journey began in 2003 when I joined Ageas in Learning & Development, eventually progressing into senior leadership positions across different areas of HR. After a period with Tesco Underwriting, I became People Director in 2021 for the fastest‑growing repair group in the UK. It’s fair to say I’ve seen a lot—and very little in HR surprises me these days!

I share my story because it shapes how I work. I consider myself a business person as well as an HR professional. I understand that people solutions must work in the real world, support commercial goals, and deliver impact quickly, especially when you’re juggling many competing demands.

I created NS People Partners to support the many small, independent repair businesses that may not have day‑to‑day access to experienced HR guidance. My background gives me a unique understanding of the challenges bodyshop owners and managers face, and how to get the best from your people.

​

My goal is simple: to make dealing with “people processes” as straightforward as possible so you can focus on running a successful business. I offer clear, jargon‑free advice and pragmatic, workable solutions - your one‑stop shop for all things HR.
